While no one's talking at the moment, an advertisement in Friday's edition of The Gaffney Ledger might portend good things for Cherokee County job seekers.

According to the advertisement, readySC and Spartanburg Community College will be assisting Jetline in recruiting workers for a new facility in Gaffney.

Jetline, which currently is based in Mt. Vernon, N.Y., is a fast-growing commercial printer and supplier of corporate promotional products, such as items imprinted with corporate logos.

Recently, the company announced it was closing its Mt. Vernon facility and relocating on the East Coast, but outside the New York-area.

The company's president and founder, Eric Levin, declined comment about the advertisement when reached Friday.

In Cherokee County, where the unemployment rate has been hovering near 17 percent for months, new jobs are likely to be wellreceived by an eager workforce.

According to a recent article in the Westchester County (N.Y.) Business Journal, Jetline had been leasing a 100,000-squarefoot plant and warehouse in Mt. Vernon since 2006 and previously was located in Yonkers.

A company official told the Westchester County Business Journal the fastgrowing company was in negotiations to relocate to a 130,000 to 150,000 square foot facility elsewhere on the East Coast.

Jetline was founded in 1997 and Levin was awarded the Supplier Entrepreneur of the Year Award by the Advertising Specialty Institute in 2009. Levin founded the company in his apartment, according to the Advertising Specialty Institute, and has been bucking industry trends by continuing to grow his business throughout the downturn in the economy.

According to the advertisement for the job applications, the company is recruiting production and warehouse associates who have an ability to work in a fast-paced industrial warehouse and production environment, who are comfortable lifting 60 pounds or more and who are able to work standing up.

Strong communication skills and customer service orientation are needed, as is worker flexibility on hours.

Applications will be accepted from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Gaffney Workforce Center on Wilmac Road from Sept. 21 to Sept. 25. Online applications can be made at www.sctechjobs.com.
