First Baptist Church hosts EWomen Conference

2009-09-21 / LifeStyles

In conjunction with Church Communication Network (CCN) and the American Association of Christian Counselors (AACC), First Baptist Church Gaffney will bring Extraordinary Women 2009: Free to be Real to Gaffney on Saturday, Sept. 26, from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

Featuring speakers Anita Renfroe, Karen Kingsbury, Stormie Omartian, Candace Cameron-Bure, Nancy DeMoss, and musicians Charles Billingsley and Kathy Troccoli - EWomen 2009 offers women a day of encouragement, laughter and music, not to mention personal and spiritual growth.

Renfroe, featured speaker, has been described as "this generation's Erma Bombeck." "I'd rather people laugh because they relate to something I say than because I wrote a clever punchline," she said. "All my stuff is about my life - it's real and it connects people - and that's a wonderful thing."

With her unique brand of estrogen-flavored musical comedy and blend of sass and slightly off-beat takes on "All Things Female," audiences say that she just tell it like it is.

Omartian is a bestselling author who personally connects with readers by sharing experiences and lessons that illustrate how God changes lives when we learn to trust in Him, seek His will, and follow His lead no matter what the circumstances.

The strength and transparency of her message have driven her books to the top of bestselling lists and earned many prestigious awards. Her books include: The Power of a Praying Wife, The Power of a Praying Parent, The Power of a Praying Woman, and The Power of Praying Together.

Most remember Bure from ABC's hit television series, Full House, where she was affectionately known as "D.J. Tanner." Her philanthropic spirit has given support to the Sheraton House, Compassion International, Children's Hunger Fund, Make-A-Wish and the Starlight Foundation. She also continues to travel the country speaking at churches, college and outreach events as well as being a contributing columnist for Christian Women Online magazine.

DeMoss served as the Primary Children's Ministries Director at Thomas Road Baptist Church in Lynchburg, Va. Since 1980, she has served on the staff of Life Action Ministries, a revival ministry based in Niles, Mich. Until 2001, she served as Director of Women's Ministries and as editor of Spirit of Revival magazine.

First Baptist Church is located in downtown Gaffney on the corner of Floyd Baker Boulevard and Limestone Street. The event will be held in the dining room of the Family Life Center across the street from the sanctuary. Women of all ages, races and denomination are welcome.
