Auditions set for ‘Rebel Without a Cause’

2009-09-25 / LifeStyles

The Gaffney Little Theatre will have auditions for Rebel Without a Cause on Monday, Sept. 28, and Tuesday, Sept. 29, at 7:30 p.m. at the theatre on East Robinson Street.

The play, written by James Fuller, launched James Dean to stardom in the movie version and became a vehicle by which the 1950s are still measured. It tells the story of Jim Stark who finds himself in yet another town trying to make sense of his surroundings and finding nothing but trouble and a mixed bag of friends. In 24 hours, Jim discovers true love and great personal tragedy.

The script calls for late-age teenagers and young adults to assume a variety of interesting roles. No preparation is necessary for auditions.

LaDonna White and John Henderson will co-direct the play that will open Nov. 12. Interested persons may also volunteer for a technical crew position.
