Barbara Jean "Bob" Jackson Johnson, 72, of 159 Mount Clair Drive, Lexington, N.C., died Monday, Sept. 21, 2009, at her home.

She was born April 29, 1937, in Chesterfield County to Arthur James Jackson Sr. and Dessie Mae Burch Jackson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Jiles Henry Johnson (veteran), to whom she was married for over 48 years, and two brothers, Jene O. Burch and Joe Nathan Jackson.

Mrs. Johnson was educated in the public schools of Rowan County, N.C. She attended New Hope A.M.E. Zion Church in Salisbury, N.C., and was previously employed by Burlington Furniture.

Survivors include five sons, Henry Johnson Jr. of the home, Michael Johnson (Traci) of Linwood, N.C., Marvin Johnson (Donna) of Salisbury, N.C., Jeremian Johnson (Michelle) of Charlotte, N.C., and Mark Johnson of Lexington, N.C.; three daughters, Bonnie Black (Charlie Jr.) of Salisbury, Linda Fay Johnson of Lexington and Cynthia Johnson-Busch (Roy) of Lexington, N.C.; a brother, Arthur James Jackson Jr. of Johnson City, Tenn.; four sisters, Jessie Mae Foxx, Juanita Walker, both of Salisbury, Gelina Camp of Gaffney and Gladys Alford of Winston-Salem, N.C.; 13 grandchildren; six greatgrandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Special appreciation is extended to caregivers, Tammy McIntosh, Shakira McIntosh and Hospice of Davidson County.

Services will be held Friday, Sept. 25, at 12:30 p.m. at New Hope A.M.E. Zion Church, conducted by the Rev. Kirk Reid, pastor, and the Rev. James Milton II, eulogist. Visitation will be held at the church beginning at noon and at other times the family will receive friends at the home. Burial will be in the U.S. National Cemetery.
