Jack Simmons Sr.

Retired from textiles

Jack Harold Simmons Sr., 80, of 117 Robinhood Drive, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2009, at Upstate Carolina Medical Center.

Born in Gaffney, he was the husband of Betty Searcy Simmons and son of the late Coleman Vinesett and Euzelia Simmons Vinesett. He was retired from Hamrick Musgrove

Mills, was a

former Gideon, and a U.S. Army veteran. Mr. Simmons was a member of Bethany Baptist Church, where was a Deacon and Sunday School Director and served on numerous committees.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Jack Harold Simmons Jr. and wife, Kathy, of Atlanta; two daughters, Beverly Earley of Gaffney and Patty Ensley and husband, Lee, of Cullowhee, N.C.; five grandchildren, Clay Earley, Jared Earley, Leah Ensley Roberts and husband, Josh, Nathan Simmons and fiancé, Roseann Sullivan, and Heather Simmons; three great-grandchildren, Jaden Earley, Kaine Earley and Joseph Simmons; two brothers, Wallace Vinesett and wife, Doris, and Tommy Vinesett and wife, Wilma, all of Boiling Springs, N.C.; six sisters, Martha Green and husband, Hubert, of Shelby, N.C., Maxine Cochran and husband, Lemuel, Buena Hester, Pat Ledbetter and husband, Tommy, Jane Raduly and Debbie Anthony and husband, Stan, all of Boiling Springs, N.C.

Services will be held Friday, Sept. 25, at 2 p.m. at Bethany Baptist Church with the Rev. Roger Ham, Dr. Donnie Padgett and the Rev. Sonny Blackwood officiating. Interment will be in Oakland Cemetery with military honors.

Visitation was held Thursday, Sept. 24, from 6-8 p.m. at Blakely Funeral Home.
