Rose Hill Park will tell some ‘Tales of Union County’ Oct. 24

UNION – Rose Hill Plantation State Historic Site will host a hauntingly fun journey into the spooky past as "Tales of Union County" presents an eerily eldritch experience for visitors to enjoy local ghostly tales and spine-chilling legends, presented by master storytellers.

There will be fun for the whole family on Saturday, Oct. 24, with marshmallow and wiener roasts, apple bobbing, and other fall festival activities. Park guides will be available to tour the grounds by lantern light, for those visitors who are not afraid of the dark. Hot apple cider, hot chocolate and other refreshments can be enjoyed by all as professional storytellers and local historians relate the folklore, stories and legends of Union County and the Upstate from the American Revolution to the present. If you’re lucky, you might even see a ghost...

The program will be from 6-10 p.m. and cost is $5 per person. Call the park office, 864-427-5966 to pre-register no later than Oct. 22. Space is not limited, but pre-registration is requested in order that the park can have an accurate count of visitors. Visitors are asked to bring their own camp chair, lawn chair or other seating, and to dress appropriately for the weather.

The program will begin behind the kitchen house at the rear of the Gist Mansion.
