Two of seven arrested were college students While it didn’t change the arrest totals, only two of the seven people arrested by Gaffney Police Department last weekend for alcohol-related offenses were Limestone College students. The Gaffney Police Department ramped up its patrols recently around the historic district in the wake of increasing complaints from residents and problems linked to off-campus student housing. Seven people were arrested Sept. 18 for alcohol related violations, six of them for underage consumption. Police Chief Rick Turner clarified last Friday, however, that only two of the seven were Limestone students. Five of the seven arrests took place in the neighborhoods around the college, while two occurred in downtown Gaffney. Turner said the city police force still is working closely with Limestone’s Public Safety office, athletic director and president and that both the city and college are sharing information.
