SHELBY, N.C. – Joyce M. Davis, 74, of Shelby Manor, went to be with her Lord and Savior with her family by her side on Sept. 25, 2009, at Hospice Wendover, Shelby.

She was born in Lando, S.C., and was the daughter of the late Earl Lee Mc- Corkle, Sr. and Maggie Hefner McCorkle. She was retired from the textile industry. She was also preceded in death by grandson, Darrell W. Davis; a daughter, Peggy Davis; and a sister, Judy Hill.

Surviving are sons, Ralph E. Davis and wife Tracy, Charles “Chuck” Davis, all of Gaffney, Bobby Davis and wife Sherry, of Shelby and Dennis Davis and wife, Tammy, York; brothers, William “Bill” McCorkle, Forest City, Reggie Mc- Corkle and Earl “Butch” McCorkle Jr., both of Chester, S.C.; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She is also survived by many other family members who loved her deeply. She will be truly missed.

The family would like to extend special thanks to Susan Hill and Stella Carnes.

Graveside services will be held Monday, Sept. 28, at 2 p.m. at Lando Cemetery in Lando with the Revs. Sidney Shuford and Ronnie Greene officiating.

Visitation was held Sunday, Sept. 27, from 6-8 p.m. at Harris Funeral Home in Kings Mountain, N.C.
