Pearl Phillips

Retired from Cherokee County School District

Pearl Elliott Phillips, 91, formerly of 2314 Wilkinsville Hwy., went home to be with the Lord on Friday, Sept. 25, 2009, at Upstate Carolina Medical Center.

Born in Gaffney, she was the wife of Monroe (Doc) Phillips and daughter of the late Walter Elliott and Rosa Nance Elliott. Mrs. Phillips was retired from the Cherokee County School District and was a member of Draytonville Baptist Church.

Surviving is a son, Tommy Phillips and wife, Vickie, of Gaffney; a brother, James Nathan Elliott and wife, Betty, of Gaffney; two sisters, Millie McCraw of Norfolk, Va., and Ruth Cole and husband, Charles, of Temple, Texas; three grandchildren, Salli Petty and husband, Michael, Mark S. Phillips and wife, Erica, and Dr. T. David Phillips and wife, Missy; and five great-grandchildren, Kate Phillips, Anna Grace Phillips, Andrew Petty, Alice Petty and Emily Petty.

Mrs. Phillips was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.

Graveside services will be held Monday, Sept. 28, at 2 p.m. at Draytonville Baptist Church Cemetery with Dr. T. David Phillips and Dr. Keith Harrill officiating. The family will receive friends at the cemetery after the service.
