GREENWOOD – William Jackson Bruce, 75, of 100 Thomason Point, husband of Bonnie Coleman Bruce, died Friday, Sept. 25, 2009, at Self Regional Medical Center.

Born in Gaffney, he was the son of the late Andrew L. Garick and Bess Wilkins Bruce. William was a graduate of Bamberg High School and the University of South Carolina, Class of 1956 cum laude. He has lived in Spartanburg, Columbia, Greenville, Orangeburg, Charlotte and Atlanta. After retiring from AT&T, William and Bonnie moved to Lake Greenwood. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church.

Surviving are his wife, Bonnie, of the home; three sons, Bill Bruce of Greenwood, Allen Bruce (Starla) of Cross Hill and Bob Bruce (Andra) of Mobile, Ala.; a brother-in-law, Robert Allen Coleman of Greenwood; and three grandsons, Dylan Bruce, Logan Bruce and Gavin Self-Poole.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Garick Horton.

Graveside services will be held Monday, Sept. 28, at 2 p.m. at Oakland Cemetery in Gaffney. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the cemetery.
