Limestone College shut down Queens University in Conference Carolinas men’s soccer action for a 3-0 victory on Saturday.

Limestone climbs to 5-3 overall and 2-1 in the league as the Royals fall to 3-4 overall and 1-3 in the conference.

“We had a great team effort today that resulted in a clean sheet for us,” Limestone Head Coach Eric Alsop said. “I was very pleased with the way we controlled the play, and we moved the ball well despite the very poor conditions.”

Ali Benson recorded the first goal in the 28th minute after a fast break opportunity. Scott Wells recorded a goal after Lee Smyth flicked the ball into the box.

The Saints increased their lead to 3-0 in the 47th minute as Keegan Ziada passed the ball from the right side of the box to Smyth, who recorded his second goal of the season.

Limestone’s Mark Davidson made two saves, while the Royals’ Chris Raines had seven.
