Cheerleading clinic

 The Limestone College cheerleading squad will help teach a free Gaffney Little League cheerleading clinic on Saturday, Oct. 3, from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. The clinic is open to all cheerleading squads in Blacksburg, Gaffney, Cowpens and Chesnee. Gates open at 9 a.m. and all teams must be at the field 30 minutes early. For more information, contact Johnte Gaffney, 864-425-2472.

 The following Red Cross training opportunities are available the first two weeks in October: Adult CPR with Standard First Aid, Monday, Oct. 5, 6-10 p.m. or Saturday, Oct. 10, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. (fee), ARC office; Adult CPR, Thursday, Oct. 1, 6-8:30 p.m. (fee) at Limestone College Library; Infant and Child CPR, Tuesday, Oct. 6, 6-10 p.m. (fee), ARC office; Bloodborne Pathogens, Thursday, Oct. 1, 10 a.m.-noon at Blacksburg Public Library or Friday, Oct. 2, 10 a.m.-noon (fee), at ARC office; new volunteer orientation, Saturday, Oct. 3, 10-11 a.m. at Blacksburg Middle School; disaster action team with client casework, Thursday, Oct. 8, 6-10 p.m. at Limestone College Library; Babysitter's Training, Monday, Oct. 12, 8:30 a.m.-3 p.m. at ARC (fee). Special events

 The 17th annual Moonshiners Reunion and Mountain Music Festival is set for Friday, Oct. 2, and Saturday, Oct. 3, at the rustic Plum Hollow Farm in New Prospect (5015 Rainbow Lake Road, Campobello. Bands to appear include Barney Barnwell and the Plum Hollow Band, Dosheno, Highway 56, Mountain Still (featuring David Vai and Roger Padgett), South 85 and Spider Farm.
