Writer commended for story about Blacksburg job training fair

Dear Joe (Ledger Staff Writer Hughes):

I can’t begin to thank you enough for writing your article (about the Blacksburg job training fair).

The people from Spartanburg commented to me that this was the greatest turnout for a job training fair they have had in three counties. We were able to fill the room.

To myself I thought that it hurts to think there are this many people who need jobs around here. Being at the job fair really puts that into perspective. The representatives felt that because of the success we had in Blacksburg, we should arrange these more often.

During the fair, I was curious as to why Blacksburg’s fair had a record turnout. To find out, I decided to poll the room before the applicants left. It was advertised in three newspapers as well as signs I posted. By a landslide and probably more than 90 percent of the group said they heard about it in The Gaffney Ledger!

Thanks Joe, so much for what you have done. The article you wrote was able to bring all these people together and help them get much-needed jobs. We couldn't have done it without you and the rest of the staff at The Gaffney Ledger.
