Hazel and Kent Abernathy Hazel and Kent Abernathy of Gaffney will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Oct. 4, 2009.

Mr. and Mrs. Abernathy were married in Gaffney in 1959. Their children are Penny Bryant of Gaffney and Mary Kent Bishop of Lake Blalock. They have two grandchildren.

Mr. and Mrs. Abernathy will be honored by their children with a reception Sunday from 3-5 p.m. at Lake Blalock. Assisting in entertaining will be the couple’s sisters, Mary Beth A. Solesbee and Kathy Smith. Guests will be greeted by Mr. and Mrs. Abernathy’s grandchildren, Emily Bryant and Joshua Bishop.
