Ninety Six National Historic Site plans candlelight tour
NINETY SIX – Ninety Six National Historic Site will host its 28th annual candlelight tour on Saturday, Oct. 10. Visitors can walk the historic one-mile trail that will be lined with over 500 luminaries. Along the way, reenactors will tell stories from Ninety Six’s past.
Tours begin at 7 p.m. and leave every 10 minutes until 8:20 p.m. Each tour lasts approximately 1 hour 15 minutes.Wear comfortable walking shoes and bring a flashlight.
Reservations are not necessary. Tickets will only be available the day of the event. Before 5 p.m., get tickets in the Visitor Center. After 5 p.m., get tickets from the information tent by the historic cabin.
Living History interpreters will be displaying Colonial skills around the cabin from 10 a.m.until 2 p.m. There will be children’s games and activities, candle dipping, quill and ink pen writing, musket firings, cannon demonstrations and much more.
Children are invited to join The Star Fort Militia. This new program for kids ages 6 to 10 will teach militia drills that were used during the Revolutionary War. Call the park at (864) 543-4068 to sign up. The program will be at 10 a.m., 12 p.m. and 2 p.m. Each session is limited to 10 kids at a time because of the supply of dummy guns and tricom hats.
The Visitor Center will be open 9 a.m.-9 p.m. on Oct. 10. All programs are free, but donations are accepted. All donations stay within the park to help with future programs. Activities are subject to change.
