October is Parson’s Pantry month
In observance of Parson’s Pantry Month, a Parson’s Pantry Harvest Celebration service is planned Saturday, Oct. 24, at East Gaffney Baptist Church. A barbecue meal will be served at 5 p.m. for $10 per person. A singing at 6:30 p.m. will feature Assurance, Because of Grace, The Eastmen, Kim Fowler, Leighlan Fowler and Alayna Downey, Doug and Linda Wilson, Janice Barnhill and Karen Jackson. A love offering will be received during the singing for Parson’s Pantry.
Parson’s Pantry was organized to help needy pastors, retired pastors, widows of pastors and married ministerial students. Because of friends, partners and supporters, the ministry has been able to assist 189 families with more than $122,000.
“We are praying that the Lord will provide more than $49,000 in 2009. The testimonies of the people who have been helped are a blessing,” said the Rev. Ron Jackson.
“Words cannot express how thankful we are for the blessing we received from you this week. I am in my last semester at the Seminary. Your gift allowed me to register for my classes. Thank you for being obedient to the Lord’s leading and in turn allowing us to keep on enduring as God has called us.” Student, New Orleans Baptist Seminary.
“I would like to thank you for remembering me. I am living alone and my medical expenses have been so much and this gift will be a great help. The Lord is so good to use folks like you to help.” Widow, Simpsovnille.
“Thank you for your generous gift and prayers. My wife’s leg is knitting slowly. It has been three months since she broke it and she still has a way to go. Your gift is so helpful during this tough time. We pray God’s continued blessings on you and the ministry of Parson’s Pantry.” Retired pastor, Florence.
