YMCA Dolphins claim fifth place at 2009 State Meet; 4 win state titles
18 other team members record top 10 finishes
      The Cherokee County YMCA Dolphin swim team recently held its awards ceremony for the 2009 summer season. The Dolphins finished fifth as a team at the summer 2009 State Meet. Four Dolphins were also able to capture state titles in individuals events.

Celebrate 50th wedding anniversary
      Choice and Minnie Leach of Gaffney will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Oct. 3, 2009. Mr. and Mrs. Leach were married in 1959 in Cherokee County. Their children are Vernon Leach, Charles Leach, Steven Leach, Jay Ames and Bryce Ames. They have eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

      Hazel and Kent Abernathy of Gaffney will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Oct. 4, 2009. Mr. and Mrs. Abernathy were married in Gaffney in 1959. Their children are Penny Bryant of Gaffney and Mary Kent Bishop of Lake Blalock. They have two grandchildren.
