Jetline news will be official Tuesday
Economic development will be front and center this week for county officials.
On Tuesday, Gov. Mark Sanford and state Department of Commerce officials will be on hand when New York-based Jetline Promotions announces it plans to locate in Gaffney.
The company, which manufactures more than 1,000 promotional products printed with company logos, could hire as many as 100 workers.
Local employment officials said the company has begun to hire production and warehouse workers. This week, Jetline Promotions will begin filling its customer service positions, the employment official said.
Cherokee County Development Board Director Jim Cook said the announcement will take place at 10 a.m. at his office at the Gaffney campus of Spartanburg Community College.
Jetline said in September that it planned to close its Mount Vernon, N.Y., plant and relocate to a larger facility on the east coast.
At its most recent meeting, Cherokee County Council approved a fee-in-lieu tax break for the company.
At its 5 p.m. meeting today, council will hear from Cook about another industrial prospect. This prospect, however, is seeking a resolution of support from council in its attempt to obtain stimulus funds for infrastructure upgrades, according to sources close to the company.
Cook said the company wouldn’t likely be seeking an inducement resolution at today’s meeting but declined further comment on the prospect.
