“We enjoyed reliving the 50s,” said Alma Dover. “It brought back a lot of memories of when I was a teenager.”

Celebrating the theme, “The 50s,” Bethel Day Care clients, staff and guests dressed in jeans, wide skirts, white socks and loafers for the 11 a.m. festivities.

The facility was decorated with a 1950’s jukebox, vinyl tablecloths and balloons. The clients took home, as souvenirs, the artificial sundaes. Decorations were done by Linda Harris, activities director; Kathy Beattie, administrative assistant; Dymon Porter and Tyler Littlejohn. On prom day, Danielle Beattie and Victoria Harris assisted with activities, including taking lots of photos.

Some clients took turns singing 1950 songs on the karaoke machine while others enjoyed dancing the “Twist,” “Mashed Potato” and “Shag” at a sock hop. A meal of hot dogs, French fries, slaw, baked beans and Coke floats was served.

“It is so wonderful to be active and remember the good old days,” said J.L. Jefferies.

In addition, during the prom the 57th wedding anniversary of Dr. and Mrs. J.W. Sanders Sr. was observed with a surprise cake that was enjoyed by all.
