Former Gaffney High star Macolm Long went 12 for 22 for 135 yards in S.C. State's loss to South Carolina Saturday.

He also scored on a 17-yard quarterback draw.

Gaffney Post 109 is looking for experienced coaches from Chesnee, Broome, Blacksburg and Gaffney to coach the Post 109 American Legion team and the Post 109 junior team.

Ninth-graders fall to Spartanburg

Shaq Davidson threw for three touchdowns and rushed for another but it wasn't enough as Spartanburg topped Gaffney, 35- 33, in ninth-grade football action on Thursday.

O'Bryant Davidson had three receiving scores while Tommaine Logan had a touchdown catch for the Indians, who are 3-3.

Jayvees top Spartanburg

Quarterback Joey Copeland and running backs Wookie Littlejohn and C.J. Miller each rushed for a touchdown to lead the Gaffney jayvees to a 19-8 win over Spartanburg on Thursday.
