Saints blank Mount Olive

The Limestone College men’s soccer team defeated Mount Olive 3-0 on Saturday afternoon at Saints Field.

Limestone climbs to 7-3 overall and 4-1 in the conference. The Trojans stand at 4-6 overall and 1-3 in the league.

Limestone took the 1- 0 lead in the 40th minute as Ali Benson headed the ball past the Trojan goalkeeper. James Burke was credited with the assist. Lee Smyth gave the Saints the 2-0 margin with a goal in the 63rd minute that was assisted by Stuart Wright. Limestone took the 3-0 lead in the 70th minute when Smyth set up Keegan Ziada for a goal.

Mount Olive’s Zac Scott made 10 saves as Limestone’s Mark Davidson had 3.

The Saints dominated the game offensively, taking 20 shots to the visitors’ 5.

The Saints also had a 10-0 advantage on corner kicks.
