Car show, concert, reunion and more on tap Oct. 10 at History & Arts Museum
There will be plenty to do in Gaffney this Saturday (October 10) from 10am to 4pm at the History & Arts Museum on College Drive. Despite rain delays over the past few weeks, the annual Fall Classic Car Show will return to the historic mustering grounds. The show features antique and collectible cars, trucks, and motorcycles, with over 100 trophies being awarded, such as Spectator’s Favorite, Best In Show, and Top 5 entries. In addition, the Poor Man’s Trophy is awarded to a vehicle still in the works. Other activities include a silent auction, 50/50 drawing, and hundreds of dollars in door prizes. More information, including registration forms, can be found at www.cherokeecountyhistory.org or by calling 864-489-3988. Food will be available from Logan Street Hotdogs, Your Best Body, and Justin Adler’s Funnel Cakes.
Inside the museum, the community is invited to attend the Central School Reunion. As Cherokee County’s oldest public school, the history of Central, its students, faculty, and staff, is one of great interest and importance. Special exhibits and activities will highlight interesting events and people from Central’s past and Cherokee County’s educational history, in general. Special musical numbers from the 1940s and 50s will be presented by Dave Vassy and Dr. Gena Poovey at 11:00am. A concert by The Nightcrawlers will begin at noon on the lawn. A four-piece from the Asheville, N.C. area, the group brings an improvisational blend to their blues, soul, & rock n’ roll. Visit www.nightcrawlersband. com for a sample of the band’s music.
Central School Alumnus Katherine & Kristine Ker will perform songs from the 1990s beginning at 3pm in the auditorium. Attendance to the reunion will require a Hall Pass. The Hall Pass includes admission to the Reunion, the Museum galleries, the old school wing, the concerts, and the car show. Light refreshments will be provided.
For more information about the reunion, please visit www.centralschool reunion.com or call 864-489-3988.
