IRS is looking for VITA help
The IRS and its partners are looking for volunteers to spend a little time learning about taxes and sharing that knowledge with others to help prepare their federal and state tax returns. Volunteer Income Tax assistance (VITA) Program volunteers prepare free basic federal and state tax returns (filed electronically) for taxpayers whose incomes are $49,000 or less. Anyone can volunteer.
The IRA provides free training materials to community organizations that sponsor VITA. Training classes generally started in December or January and will beheld locally at a convenient location. Volunteers generally spend three to four hours a week from the latter part of January through April 15 helping taxpayers the community.
