Fall bazaar

 Mount Vernon United Methodist Church, 2160 Smithford Road, Hickory Grove, will have its annual fall bazaar on Saturday, Oct. 10, in the church fellowship center. A full course buffet breakfast will start at 7 a.m. and the bazaar shopping will begin at 8 a.m. and end at 1 p.m. Cost of breakfast is $5. The bazaar will feature a country store of homemade baked goods, frozen casseroles and canned goods. Lunch will begin at 11 a.m. and there will be hot dogs, hamburgers and homemade chicken stew. All proceeds go to missions and the church building fund.

Fund raisers

 A church-wide yard sale will be held Saturday, Oct. 10, from 7 a.m. until at Cherokee Avenue Baptist Church Family Life Center. A large variety of items will be for sale. A hot dog sale will be held from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.

Blood drives

 The following public blood drives are planned in Cherokee County: Southside Baptist Church, Thursday, Oct. 8, 3-8 p.m.; SCC Cherokee Campus, Tuesday, Oct. 27, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.; Upstate Carolina Medical Center, Friday, Oct. 30, 1-7 p.m.

Halloween events

 Buffalo VFW will have a haunted house Oct. 23-25 and Oct. 29-31 at 137 Blackwell Road, Blacksburg. Admission is $5 and the horrors begin at 7 p.m. For directions, call 864- 839-4500.

Meeting

 The Central School Reunion Committee will meet Thursday, Oct. 8, at 5:30 p.m. at the Cheorkee County History and Arts Museum.
