Injury-plagued Wildcats in need of first aid and wins

They’re banged up, beaten and bruised.
They’re the Blacksburg Wildcats and they resemble a MASH unit instead of a football team.
“Right now, I just want to get everybody healthy,” said coach Mickey Moss as his team prepares for its region opener Friday against visiting Christ Church.
The team is especially nicked up at the skill positions, where running backs Lennal Dasher and Raymond Ellis are nursing sprained ankles.
Ellis returned last week and had a huge first quarter, gaining 92 yards on nine carries.
But he was sidelined midway through the second quarter with a reocurrence of the sprained ankle and the Wildcats’ offense never recovered in a disheartening loss to previously winless Dixie.
Dasher hurt his ankle in practice prior to the Dixie game. He tried to play on the gimpy ankle but was forced to take himself out of the game.
Dasher and Ellis are both questionable for Friday’s game.
“The region is what is important,” the Blacksburg coach said. “If we have everybody healthy, we will be able to be competitive.”
