Limestone inducts new members in athletic Hall of Fame

STAFF REPORTS

Limestone College inducted the 2009 Hall of Fame Class on Saturday night at a banquet at Stephenson Dining Hall.

Cheri Anthony, Mike Flaskey, Mike Pavlick, and the 1981-82 men’s basketball team are the newest inductees into the Hall of Fame.

Anthony was a four-year member of the softball team and a three-year member of the volleyball team.

Flaskey was one of the first athletes to sign to play baseball for Limestone’s inaugural program in 1988. He was one of the first two players in school history to be selected for the NAIA All-District 6 team in 1990.

Pavlick was the starting goalkeeper for the Saints’ soccer team for four years and was one of the first soccer players from Limestone to earn NAIA All-District 6 honors.

The men’s basketball team, under the direction of second-year coach Craig Drennon, set the stage for Limestone basketball’s tremendous success during the 1980s. After posting a 16-17 record in the 80-81 season, the Saints turned the corner and won 25 games in 81-82.
