DOG 'DARTED'

Gaffney City Code Enforcement Officer Dwayne Fowler lugs a tranquilized pit bull out of the dense kudzu off Calton Drive on Thursday. The loose dog was initially reported to Fowler as it roamed the parking lot of a West Floyd Baker Boulevard shopping center. The code enforcement officer followed it to a kudzu patch off Calton Drive, where the canine let the lawman know it had no plans to surrender peacefully. Fowler was forced to tranquilize the dog with a dart, and call for backup to help get the hefty pooch out of a culvert. The dog had no tag or collar and its owner is unknown.
