Sadie P. Bechtler
HICKORY GROVE – Sadie Patterson Bechtler, 78, formerly of Hickory Grove, died Thursday, Oct. 8, 2009, at Upstate Carolina Medical Center in Gaffney.
Daughter of the late William Lewis Patterson Sr. and Nellie Traylor Patterson, she was employed by Sullivan Carson for 44 years and also was an Avon distributor and a Stanley Home Products distributor for many years. She was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving are her sister in-law, Joann Brown Patterson of Blacksburg; three nephews, Scott Patterson and wife, Karen, Mike Patterson and wife, Lori, all of Blacksburg, and Rick Patterson and wife, Malinda, of Gaffney; special grand-nephews, Scotty Allen Patterson Jr., Cody Michael Patterson, Wesley Brent Patterson, all of Blacksburg, and Caleb Tyler Patterson of Gaffney; and special friends, residents and caregivers of Brookview HealthCare and Hospice of South Carolina.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Thomas E. Bechtler; a brother, William "Bill" Patterson Jr.; and a sister, Margaret Patterson. She was also preceded in death by her adored and cherished labrador retriever, Jip, and chow, Jake.
A graveside Celebration of Life service was held Sunday, Oct. 11, at 4:30 p.m. at Hickory Grove Cemetery, conducted by the Rev. Danny Phillips. The family received friends at the graveside from 4- 4:30 p.m.
Pallbearers were Larry Brown, J.D. Brown, Jim Wilson, Claude Martin, Harry Martin and Thomas Moss.
