Dear Editor:

A few months ago, several people gathered to discuss the possibility of hosting a unique event, an elementary school reunion. In celebration of the many years of educating that occurred at Central School, the committee set the date of Oct. 10 to host the Central School Reunion at the Cherokee County History & Arts Museum, which is now located in the school.

Much work went into the planning, setup and execution of the activities and what a wonderful success it turned out to be. With approximately 200 people in attendance, the day was filled with special performances and activities, but most of all, the opportunity for former teachers, students, and staff members to reunite.

On behalf of the committee, we would like to thank all those involved in making this event such a success. From donations of food and supplies to the giving of time to set up and volunteer, the level of support was critical and tremendous.

We would particularly like to thank Gena Poovey, Dave Vassy, Katherine Ker, and Kristine Ker for donating their time and talents.

We would also like to thank Jim Cudd and Becky Addington for securing The Nightcrawlers band. We greatly appreciate the support of your newspaper in publicizing this and all of the Museum’s events.
