2009 AMERICAN VOLUNTEER 2nd place
Horace Whelchel of Gaffney, a 16-year Meals on Wheels volunteer, recently won second place in the national Meals On Wheels American Volunteer Contest. Voters were asked to vote for the contestants after viewing their videos online. Meals on Wheels will be presenting Horace his award on Monday, Oct. 19, at the Volunteer Appreciation Event from 6-8 p.m at Grassy Pond Baptist Church. Sponsors are Interim Health and Firestone. Cherokee County MOW's Board of Directors will be serving an Italian feast with entertainment by Rejoice Trio and The Eastman Quartet.
