Miss Davis, Mr. Crooks wed July 10 in Jamaica

JACOB STERLING CROOKS (Kristen Ann Davis) Kristen Ann Davis of Gaffney and Jacob Sterling Crooks of Seneca were married Friday, July 10, 2009, at 3 p.m. in a seaside ceremony in Grande Ocho Rios, Jamaica. The Rev. Joel Downer performed the double ring ceremony.

The bride wore a designer gown of diamond white silk satin with a sweetheart neckline embellished with diamond crystals and pearls. Criss-crossed ruching formed the bodice and wrapped around to the corset back. The modified A-line skirt flowed into a chapel-length train. She carried a bouquet of pink and white tropical flowers.

Sharon Elizabeth Davis attended her sister as maid of honor. She wore a knee-length dress of blue-green silk and carried flowers similar to those of the bride.

The groom was attended by his father, Donnie Crooks, as best man. Soloist was Heather Owens of Gaffney.

Mrs. Crooks is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nathan Lemuel Ramsey of Gaffney and the late Jimmy Ray Davis. She is the granddaughter of Azalea Davis, Margie Allison, both of Gaffney, the late Mr. and Mrs. Hoyt Galvin who lived in Charlotte, N.C., and the late Dever Davis. A cum laude graduate of Clemson University, she is a second grade teacher in the Oconee County School District.

Mr. Crooks is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Donnie Crooks of Seneca. His grandparents are the late Mr. and Mrs. Lamar Mize and the late Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Crooks, all of whom lived in Seneca. He attended Clemson University and owns and operates Jacob Crooks Construction.

A reception, hosted by Mr and Mrs. Ramsey, was held in the couple's honor on Saturday, Aug. 1, at Duncan Estates in Spartanburg.

After a honeymoon in Jamaica, the newlyweds are making their home in Seneca.
