Renowned Ukraine folk dance group at Newberry Opera House on Oct. 21
NEWBERRY – The Newberry Opera House curtain will rise Wednesday, Oct. 21, at 8 p.m. to present the Virsky Ukrainian National Dance Company. This renowned folk dance ensemble is famous for its brightly colored costumes, the unity of content and form, and the vivid embodiment of its stage concept.

The history of the ensemble goes back to 1937 when two well-known ballet masters brought together a group of folk dancers. Pavlo Virsky headed the ensemble for the next two decades. It was under his guidance that the ensemble matured into a highly professional dance company whose art has won the hearts of countless reviewers and the general public around the world.
