Retired from textile industry

Hazel Atkins Phillips, 77, of 269 Beltline Road, Apt. 2-A, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, Oct. 12, 2009, at Upstate Carolina Medical Center.

Born in Gaffney, she was the widow of Oliver Thad Phillips and daughter of the late Jim Atkins and Annie Bright Atkins. Mrs. Phillips retired from the textile industry and was a member of Draytonville Baptist Church.

She is survived by two sons, Ronnie Phillips and wife, Jennifer, and Jerry Phillips, all of Gaffney; a daughter, Dianne Parker and husband, Steve, of Gaffney; six grandchildren, Paige Phillips, Brooke Peeler, Brandi Parker, Chris Parker, Renae Phillips and Katie Jones; and five greatgrandchildren, Sam Phillips, Sadie Peeler, Charlotte Peeler, Madeline Parker and Madison Bailey.

Graveside services were held Tuesday, Oct. 13, at 2 p.m. at Draytonville Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Terry Lanford officiating. The family received friends at the cemetery following the services.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Interim Hospice, 775 Spartan Blvd., Suite 101, Spartanburg, SC 29301.

The family is at the home of Ronnie and Jennifer Phillips, 205 Maple Drive.
