Former owner of Harris Auto Parts

BLACKSBURG – Lucille Patterson Harris, 91, of 1352 W. Cherokee St., passed away Sunday, Oct. 11, 2009, at Magnolia Manor in Rock Hill.

Born in Cherokee County, Mrs. Harris was the widow of Leonard Boyd Harris and daughter of the late Robert E. Lee and Cleo Madora Scates Patterson. Mrs. Harris was former owner of Harris Auto Parts and was a member of Garden Temple Assembly of God.

Surviving Mrs. Harris are two daughters, Phyllis Harris Sutton of Rock Hill and Myra Harris Goforth and husband, Wilford, of Rock Hill; a son, James Wendell Harris and wife, Joann, of Gaffney; nine grandchildren, Chris Sutton and wife, Rhonda, of Rock Hill, Kevin Sutton of Rock Hill, Shannon Goforth of Rock Hill, Wanda Yvette Nelson of Eden Prairie, Minn., Rhonda Ledbetter of Simpsonville, Mindy Freeman of Cleveland, Tenn., Cindy Joyce of Gaffney, Maureen Harris of Tampa, Fla., and Ann LaCarter of Fort Mill; and 10 great-grandchildren, Jamie, Jeremy and Rebekah Press, Alexus Cobb, Justin Sutton, Taylor LaCarter, Haley Buckner, Isaiah, Ayla and Aaron Clute.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Harris was preceded in death by a son, Alphaeus Harris; a grandson, Lebron Sutton; a brother, Floyd Patterson; and three sisters, Dolly Warren, Dorothy Kiser and Lunnie Hopper.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, Oct. 14, from 7-8:30 p.m. at Gordon Mortuary.

Services will be held Thursday, Oct. 15, at 1 p.m. at New Harvest Church of God in Gaffney. Interment will follow at Clingman Memorial Gardens in Blacksburg.

The family will be at the residence.
