Lady Saint runners place fourth
The Limestone College women's cross country team finished fourth in the eight-team field at the Furman Invitational on Saturday morning.
The Lady Saints finished first among the Division II competitors. Courtney Rankin led Limestone with a time of 20:27 to finish 14th in the 58-runner field.
Lady Saint Quanika Blackmon finished 22nd (21:26). Jenny Altieri was 30th (23:03), while Molly Reichwald was just behind in 31st place (23:04). Alex Gadea was 32nd (23:06).
Furman University won the meet, followed by Winthrop and The Citadel. Presbyterian College took fifth.
Catawba nips Lady Saints in OT
The Catawba College field hockey team edged Limestone 2-1 in overtime on Saturday afternoon at Timken Field.
Limestone falls to 1-10 on the year as the Indians stand at 3-8.
Sam Santoli scored the first goal of the game in the 24th minute to give Catawba the lead. Limestone's Lauren Askerberg equalized in the 43rd minute. Sara Parker picked up the assist on the goal. With the score tied 1-1 at the end of regulation, the game entered overtime.
Overtime was short as Dana Dolbow scored only one minute into the period for the 2-1 Catawba victory.
Saint runners place 12th
The Limestone College men's cross country team finished 12th in the 15-team field at the Furman University Invitational held at the Furman Golf Course on Saturday morning. Justus Kirwa led all Division II runners with his time of 27:11 to finish 9th in the 127-runner field.
Limestone's Tres Valentino finished 85th (31:49) while Kevin Eagletook 97th (33:22). Garrett McGraw took 104th (33:52). Ken Bodamer was 106th (34:05).
Marshall University won the meet, followed by Furman, Berry, and Tennessee Technological University.
Benedict College led the Division II teams with an eighthplace finish. Montreat College was ninth followed by Francis Marion in 10th place. Brevard finished 11th. North Greenville and Claflin finished 15th and 16th, respectively.
Post 109 looking for coaches
Gaffney Post 109 is looking for experienced coaches from Chesnee, Broome, Blacksburg and Gaffney to coach the Post 109 American Legion team and the Post 109 junior team.

Lady Saints blank Barton
The Lady Saints soccer team recorded its second shutout of the season with a 2-0 victory over Barton College in Conference Carolinas action on Saturday afternoon.
Limestone climbs to 5-2 in the league and 6-7 overall.
