Gary Peterson

SHELBY – Gary Dean Peterson, 60, of 445 Christopher Road, died Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2009, at Carolinas Medical Center.

A native of Cherokee County, he was a son of the late Vernon and Irene Peterson. He retired from PPG.

He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Karen Fletcher Peterson of the home; a son, Chad Travis Peterson and wife, Heather, of Boiling Springs; a daughter, Marie Peterson, of Gaffney; two sisters, Frances Gibson and husband, J.D., and Gladys Tendell, all of Blacksburg; a brother, Doyle Peterson and wife, Joann, of Blacksburg; and three grandchildren, Dylan Lowery, and Aly and Lauri Dixon.

The family will receive friends Friday, Oct. 16, from 6-7:30 p.m. at Clay- Barnette Funeral Home.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, Oct. 17, at 11 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Tim Knox, at Clingman Memorial Gardens in Blacksburg.
