McIntosh named director of pregnancy center
DEBBIE MCINTOSH
A passion for community service has led Debbie McIntosh into her latest role as Cherokee Pregnancy Center Director.
The pregnancy center has served as a lifeline in recent years for women faced with unplanned pregnancies. The nonprofit group operates the Options Medical Clinic to provide counseling, limited medical care and personal support so women can see clearly their options for moving forward with a new life.
McIntosh was hired as the new director just in time to help with an Oct. 27 fundraising dinner for the Cherokee Pregnancy Center. The dinner will be held at 7 p.m. at the Broad River Electric Cooperative Auditorium.
Donations made by people attending the fundraiser dinner will help support the Options Medical Clinic operated by the pro-life Christian ministry.
“When the Cherokee Pregnancy Center opened in 2003, my husband, Don, and I really felt we needed to support the center in Cherokee County. It meets a need for women in the community by feeding them spiritually and emotionally,” McIntosh said. “We deal with the whole person. Our goal is to help women see their options and provide them the information they need to make good decisions when dealing with an unplanned pregnancy.”
“Everyone is affected by pregnancy in some fashion,” McIntosh said.
At the fundraising dinner, guest speaker Kirk Walden will share how his own life has been positively changed by taking a different road in fatherhood.
Walden is a one-time professional golfer. He will tell his story of life as a single dad with three children. He is the founder and president of Life Trends, a company serving more than 500 pregnancy care centers in America.
Walden seeks to bring hope and encouragement to men and women, reminding them of God’s faithfulness in the midst of personal trials.
“Those who come to our events are often busy and sometimes struggling in some area of their lives,” Walden said. “We all need a chance to laugh and loosen up. From there, we can be touched, envisioned and motivated.”
