Ricky Dean Smiley, 54, of 533 Stephenson St., went home to be with the Lord on Monday, Oct. 19, 2009, at Upstate Carolina Medical Center.

Born in Gaffney, he was the son of Polly Elizabeth Whelchel Bell of Gaffney and the late Travis Lee Smiley. He was formerly employed by Oxford Industries and was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Smiley was a graduate of Gaffney High School and an avid bowler.

In addition to his mother, surviving are three brothers, Harry Smiley and wife, Mary, of Duncan, Terry Smiley and wife, Linda, and Dennis Smiley and wife, Polly Ann, all of Gaffney; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, Oct. 21, from 3-4 p.m. at Blakely Funeral Home. Services will immediately follow at 4 p.m. in Blakely Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Vernon Craig officiating. Interment will be in Frederick Memorial Gardens.

The family will be at the residence.
