POLICE REPORT
A thief took nearly $1,000 in items from a Lakeview Drive, Grover, home during an Oct. 16 break-in, according to the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office.
Police reported that someone broke a window to gain access to the home and took a 20-inch flat screen television, a computer monitor, four quilts and two propane heaters.
Police said the thief or thieves also entered an outbuilding.
A thief or thieves stole power tools from an Old Post Road garage recently.
According to the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office, someone entered a garage in the 1300 block between Oct. 13 and Oct. 16 and took a Dewalt-brand compound miter saw and a Pass Load nail gun valued at a combined $700.
The Gaffney Police Department reported the theft of a motorcycle from Pecan Street on Oct. 15.
According to a police report, someone took a Rocketta-brand motorcycle from the 300 block between 7:40 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.
The motorcycle would not start and the thief is believed to have pushed it off the property.
The motorcycle is valued at $3,000.
The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office was called to investigate an assault that occurred outside the Hamrick Mills plant on Cherokee Avenue.
According to a police report, an employee was checking the exterior of the building in the 2400 block of Cherokee Avenue when an unknown person wearing a red hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans approached and struck him in the side of the head at about 7:45 p.m. Oct. 15.
A go-cart shop on Hamrick Street reported a burglary on Oct. 15.
According to the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office, someone forced entry to the B&B Cart Shop between 2 a.m. and 5 p.m. Oct. 15 and took two sets of tires valued at $800, a 2009 Icon Elite go-cart valued at $3,200 and a Dell laptop computer valued at $1,300.
A thief or thieves targeted a church property in Blacksburg recently.
Between Oct. 15 and Oct. 16., someone broke into two outbuildings owned by Youngs Grove Baptist Church on Youngs Grove Road and took a Massey Ferguson lawnmower valued at $3,000.
Damage was estimated at an additional $200, according to the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office.
The lawnmower had a 38-inch cutting deck and a 17.5 horsepower engine.
More than $2,500 in electronics and jewelry were reported stolen following a recent burglary on Providence Road.
According to the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office, someone forced entry to a residence in the 600 block between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. Oct. 15.
The thief or thieves took $1,375 in electronics, $215 in jewelry, and $945 in cellular telephones.
Damage is estimated at an additional $200.
A moped was reported stolen from East Fairview Street recently.
According to the Gaffney Police Department, someone took a 2009 model 49 cc moped, red and silver in color, from Cherokee Apartment between 12:30 and 5 a.m. on Oct. 13.
The moped had an Area 51 plate.
The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office recently reported a case of malicious damage on Ford Road.
According to a police report, someone smashed the windshield of a vehicle parked in the 200 block between 12:30 p.m. and 5:40 p.m. on Oct. 13.
Damage is estimated at $200.
An attempted burglary was reported recently on General Drive.
According to the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office, someone tried to pry open the door to a residence in the 100 block between 5:45 a.m. and 4:45 p.m. on Oct. 13.
No entry was made but damage was estimated at $500.
