DRIVE-IN BURGLARY — Employees and owners of Ruppe Rental on Cherokee Avenue received an unwelcome wake-up call early Tuesday after someone drove a truck through the front entrance of the business. The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office is investigating the incident, which was labeled an attempted burglary. Employees said an alarm immediately sounded upon impact. The incident occurred at approximately 4:30 a.m. A surveillance camera showed a white Ford extended cab-style truck pull into the lot and back straight through the front doors. The collision not only broke the doors but caused considerable damage to the brickwork on the front of the building. Damage is estimated at $5,000. The truck left the lot before police arrived.
