POLICE REPORT
The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a stabbing that occurred on Cherokee Avenue in the early morning hours of Oct. 23.
According to a police report, a Crestmont Drive resident suffered a stab wound to his left side while he was in the 1600 block of Cherokee Avenue at about 12:30 a.m.
The victim had to be taken to Upstate Carolina Medical Center for treatment, according to a police report.
The suspect was unknown at the time of the report.
The Gaffney Police Department is investigating an armed robbery and assault that occurred Oct. 22 outside a South Oliver Street apartment building.
According to a police report, three unknown subjects approached a man and pistol-whipped him before fleeing with $4 in cash.
A witness told police the attackers fled in a late model Chevrolet Impala that had dark tinted windows.
The victim, who suffered a cut on his head that required medical attention, told police he did not know his attackers and had never seen them before.
Police said paramedics treated the victim at the scene.
About $480 in tools were reported stolen from a truck that stopped at two West Floyd Baker Boulevard businesses Oct. 22.
According to the Gaffney Police Department, a worker from ICR Plumbing stopped at both the Lowe’s Home Improvement Store and the Burger King on West Floyd Baker Boulevard between 10 a.m. and 12:30 a.m. before discovering that tools had been taken from the truck.
Missing are a Dewalt reciprocating saw, a Bosch hammer drill, a hole saw kit and other miscellaneous tools.
The Gaffney Police Department served an arrest warrant on a West Oneal Street woman, charging her with child neglect.
The warrant alleges Kayce Caroline Cobb, 22, did inflict harm to a 14-month old child by striking him about the arms and legs, leaving bruises on the child.
According to a police report, Sgt. Jerry Smith wrote that police were dispatched to West Oneal Street on Oct. 22 on a report of a dispute. While at the scene, Smith wrote that officers initially observed bruises on a toddler’s legs and subsequently found bruises on the toddler’s arms. The young child also had a knot on his head, the officer wrote.
Smith said Cobb stated that the child fell a lot.
Police said the toddler and another young child were placed into emergency protective custody and that Cobb was arrested and transported to the Cherokee County Detention Center.
More than $1,000 in jewelry was reported stolen from a Cannons Campground Road home following an Oct. 22 burglary.
According to the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office, someone gained entry to the residence in the 5500 block between 8 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. and took a silver necklace with three diamonds, a gold heartshaped pendant necklace with a diamond and sapphires, a wide silver wedding band, a 1978 Broome High School ring and a gold 2005 Citadel ring.
About $315 in property and money was reported stolen from an Allison Creek Road home following a burglary.
According to the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office, someone forced entry to a home in the 100 block between 9:30 a.m. Oct. 21 and 4 p.m. Oct. 22 and took three pairs of Nike shoes and $15 in change.
The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office reported the theft of $2,400 in property from a Lancaster Drive, Blacksburg, home following a recent burglary.
According to a police report, someone forced entry to a home in the 200 block between Oct. 15 and Oct. 20 and took $2,000 in collectible cards, a $200 drill and $200 in wrenches.
A vehicle reported stolen from Destiny Drive was found wrecked hours later.
According to the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office, a Destiny Drive resident reported the theft of her Mercury Grand Marquis, which had been removed from the 100 block between 10:30 p.m. Oct. 19 and early on Oct. 20.
Police subsequently were dispatched regarding a suspicious vehicle report on Second Avenue and found the vehicle wrecked.
The vehicle was valued at $8,000.
The Gaffney Police Department reported the theft of a string trimmer on East Robinson Street.
According to a police report, someone stole a Husky-brand string trimmer from the bed of a pickup truck while it was parked in the 100 block between 3:45 p.m. and 4:20 p.m. Oct. 20.
The Gaffney Police Department is investigating an Oct. 21 incident during which a subject fled on foot after ditching a vehicle.
According to a police report, an officer observed a rust-colored Oldsmobile traveling west on West Floyd Baker Boulevard at a high rate of speed at about 2 a.m.
The officer activated his blue lights and attempted a traffic stop. Police said the driver stopped but then fled on foot. Police were unable to find the driver.
The vehicle was impounded for processing.
A heat pump valued at $2,500 was taken from a Tansi Trail, Gaffney, home.
According to the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office, the heat pump was removed from the 100 block between 12 p.m. Oct. 18 and 6:30 a.m. Oct. 20.
