B.F. Allison
BLACKSBURG — B.F. Allison, 84, of 1100 Bridges Road, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2009, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.
Born in Cherokee Falls, Allison was the husband of Martha Little Allison and son of the late Herbert O. and Maggie Ethel Holmes Allison. He retired from service in the U.S. Air Force after 24 years at the rank of E- 5. He served in World War II on a Navy destroyer escort for four years.
Allison was the commander and a life member of American Legion Post 81 in Pleasantville, N.J. and was a life member of the Pleasantville Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW).
Also while in Pleasantville, he ran Allison and Son Auto Repair.
He returned to Blacksburg in 1993. Allison was of the Methodist faith.
In addition to his wife, Allison is survived by two daughters, Joy Cummings and husband Bob, of Cedar Springs, Iowa, and Lana Portale and husband Skip, of Galloway, N.J.; three sons, Bennett Allison and wife Nora, of Galloway, Brian Allison of Egg Harbor Township, N.J., and Brent F. Allison Sr. of Blacksburg; six grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and a great-great grandson.
In addition to his parents, Allison was preceded in death by a brother, Herbert Allison and a sister, Sue Sanders.
The family received friends on Sunday, Oct. 25, 2009.
Funeral services will be private.
The family will be at the residence.
