Come enjoy the Halloween fun Saturday in downtown Gaffney

The Downtown Business Association will be hosting this year's Trunk or Treat on Limestone on Saturday, Oct. 31. Cars from local businesses and Buford Street United Methodist Church will be parked ready to pass out candy from 5-7 p.m. The little trunk-or-treater are encouraged to enter Limestone Street at the Michael Gaffney cabin and make their way down Limestone to Frederick and then return to the final stop at the Gaffney Fire Department.

A costume contest, sponsored by Hartzog's Jewelry and Gifts, will begin at 5:30 near the jewelry store on Birnie Street. There will be four categories with a winner for a boy and a girl in each.

At the far end of the trick or treat trail, near Limestone and Frederick, a band, Forgotten Prophecy, will take the stage to entertain all passers-by while Trackside Diner will be out selling hot dogs, hamburgers and bowls of chili along with drinks, nachos and popcorn to keep everyone’s tummy full. There will also be a hayride, story teller, dancing and face painting.

“There will be fun for everyone, so make plans now to come downtown on Halloween,” said Tracy Will. It's not too late to sign up to pass out candy. Contact Will at (864) 488-1948 to be an official trunk stop. You must have a car pass to enter zone designed for candy distribution. All "trunks" will be eligible for judging in the trunk award contest.

“Last year we had a "Truck" Trunk Stop, a Pirates Chest and Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz. We can’t wait to see what trunk decorations local residents have dreamed up this year,” Will said.
