Church news
Circle of Grace Lutheran Chapel will observe All Saints’ Sunday as they gather for worship on Nov. 1. Those who have joined the church triumphant in the last year will be remembered during worship beginning at 9:30 a.m. This year the congregation remembers Raymond Horne and Joe Poovey. All are welcomed. The church meets in Limestone College’s Camp- Swofford Chapel at the corner of College Drive and Griffeth Street.
Northside Baptist Church, 944 N. Logan St., will have its 45th annual World Missionary Conference Nov. 1-8. Sunday services will be at 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. The weekly services will be at 7 p.m. The church will hear reports from missionaries to North America, the Caribbean, South America, the South Pacific, Spain, Africa, the Philippines, Japan and India.
New Trinity Christian Fellowship Ministries will have a Harvest Fellowship Celebration Saturday at 4 p.m. In addition to praise and worship, there will be fun, games and food.
Life Changer’s Church, 2123 Pacolet Hwy., will have a Family and Friends Day Sunday from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
Fairview Baptist Church, located off Hwy. 11, will have a chili cook-off Saturday. Fun and games will begin at 4 p.m. with judging of the contest at 5 p.m. A trunk-or-treat for children will follow the contest judging. For contest information, call 864-304-7419.
Suck Creek Baptist Church will celebrate its 157th anniversary in special services Sunday at 10:30 a.m. Guests will be Pastor Henry During and congregation of Star of Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Chruch, Triangle, Va.
Bethany Baptist Church, 215 Wilkinsville Hwy., will have a benefit for Cherokee Children’s Home Saturday at the church. Activities begin at 2 p.m. with games for children and adults, including a cake walk. At 3:30 p.m., there will be biblical hay rides that will travel through many biblical scenes with Bible stories being told in a peaceful not scary presentation. Beginning at 5 p.m., a hot dog supper with all the fixings will be served. The evening will conclude with a trunk-or-treat for the children. The Broad River Baptist Association Women’s Missionary Union is sponsoring the annual Baptist Women's Day of Prayer on Monday, Nov. 2, at 6 p.m. at Kirby Memorial Baptist Church. The meeting will begin with a meal of homemade soups and desserts. The meal will be followed by a program of prayer. All local women are invited to come unite with women around the world in prayer for our communities and nations.
The Youth Choir of Bethel Baptist Church will celebrate its anniversary Sunday at 5 p.m. with a singing program. Various chorus and groups will be participating.
Fall festivals
Macedonia Baptist Church will have a fall festival Saturday beginning at 4 p.m. There will be inflatables, a rock wall, games, hayride, maze, bingo, costume parade, hot dog supper, baked goods, cake walks, entertainment and a country store. A womanless beauty pageant will begin at 6 p.m., with a trunkor treat to follow. Proceeds will go towards helping families at Christmas.
White Plains Baptist Church, 206 Soap Stone Road, will have a fall festival Saturday from 3-9 p.m. The theme is “Blast From the Past.” Come dressed as your favorite personality from the 50s through the 90s. There will be games, food and prizes.
Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, 509 Cherokee Falls Road, Blacksburg, will have its annual fall festival Saturday at 5 p.m. A "Hee-Haw" style variety show is planned with a meal of chicken stew, hot dogs and chips to follow. A "trunk 'n' treat" is planned for the children.
Shady Grove Baptist Church Sunday School will have its annual fall festival and Halloween "trunk or treat" Saturday from 3-5 p.m. All are invited to wear non-scary costumes and go from "trunk to trunk" to collect treats. There will plenty of food, drinks and fried fish for all. A hayride is also planned.
Turning Point Church, 345 Floyd Baker Road, is hosting a free fall festival Saturday from 5-7:30 p.m. There will be free game booths and candy. Chili, Frito pies and soda will be sold for 50 cents each.
Special event
The Gaffney Senior Center, 499 W. Rutledge Ave., will have a yard sale and craft sale Saturday from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. New jewelry and craft items will be for sale. Hot dog plates will be sold for lunch at noon. A motorcycle run starts at 9:30 a.m.
Blood drive
The Piedmont Blood Center's Bloodmobile will be at Upstate Carolina Medical Center today (Oct. 30) from 1- 7 p.m.
