Maurice Williams Maurice Williams NEWBERRY – Mark your calendars for a fabulous evening of beach music with Maurice Williams and the Zodiacs and special friends as they rock the Newberry Opera House on Sunday, Nov. 8, 7 p.m.

Williams and his friends are taping this special concert and members of the audience have the rare chance to see and perhaps be in a live DVD performance in the making.

Williams, a South Carolina native, is established as one of the hottest songwriters in the business. He burst onto the music scene in 1957 by composing Little Darlin’ that was an immediate hit and zoomed to the top of the charts. Other successful tunes followed – Stay, a number one in 1960, I Remember, and the classic May I.

Over the years, Williams’ songs have been recorded by top names in the entertainment business, bringing fame and honor to the composer. He is one of the most durable figures in the history of classic rhythm-and-blues and rock ’n’ roll.
