      If there’s one thing that Gaffney quarterback DeEdward Burris does better than anybody else it’s run the ball. You might want to add pass the ball, as well. Burris completed a remarkable 19 of 27 passes for a career-high 268 yards and two touchdowns in leading the Indians to a huge 35-28 victory over region rival Clover on Friday.

Woolbright returns home as a winner

      It wasn’t just another game for Gaffney co-offensive coordinator Perry Woolbright. Woolbright grew up in Clover and played quarterback for the Blue Eagles but he made no secret where his allegiance stood when the Indians traveled to Clover for a key region game Friday.

Blacksburg wins but will stay home for playoffs

      Time stood still on the playing clock in the fourth quarter Friday night while Southside Christian moved perilously closer to scoring the tying touchdown in Blacksburg’s final regular season game. A comfortable 27-7 third quarter Blacksburg lead had vanished on a pair of touchdown runs by Southside Christian quarterback Thaddeus Morgan and running back Jared Lane.

Saints blank Chowan to end regular season
      Limestone College ended the regular season with a 9-0 victory over Chowan University in men’s soccer action at Saints Field. Limestone improves to 12-4 overall as the Hawks fall to 1-14.

Lady Saints nip Converse in key conference contest
      The Limestone College women’s soccer team defeated Converse College 2-1 in Conference Carolinas play on Saturday. The Lady Saints finish the regular season seventh in the conference standings with a 6-5 league record (7-10 overall). The Valkyries stand at 1-10 in the conference (3-17 overall).

Limestone women’s swim team finishes fifth in relay event
      The Lady Saints swimming team took third in the five-team field at the Boo Bash Relays on Saturday. The meet was hosted by Catawba College. Limestone had strong performances from Raquel Rudolph, Joanna Mannon, Marta Stepien, Renee Pouchet and Molly Reichwald.

Offensive line keeps pressure off Burris

      Gaffney assistant coach Donnie Littlejohn had a huge smile Friday because of the stellar performance of his offensive line. The line, with four new starters, had its best game of the season in the Indians’ hard fought 35-28 victory at Clover on Friday.
