Saints blank Chowan to end regular season Limestone College ended the regular season with a 9-0 victory over Chowan University in men’s soccer action at Saints Field. Limestone improves to 12-4 overall as the Hawks fall to 1-14. Limestone also held its Senior Day on Saturday as the team recognized its five seniors: Ali Benson (Hull, England), Dominic Casciato (Kent, England), Mark Davidson (Middlesex, England), Mark Johnston (Nelson, New Zealand) and Stuart Wright (Nelson, New Zealand). Benson, who scored three goals against Pfeiffer earlier this week, recorded a hat trick and an assist, while Liam Garner scored four goals. The Saints opened the game with a hat trick by Benson, who scored all three of the goals within the opening 15 minutes. Junior Ellis and Keegan Ziada picked up assists. Garner scored back-to-back goals at the 20:23 and 24:56 marks. Oscar Alvarez Guevara closed out the scoring in the 38th minute as Jamie Smith was credited with the assist. Limestone entered the second half with a 6-0 lead. Ellis scored his own goal in the 53rd minute to increase the Saints’ advantage to 7-0. Garner went on to score on a penalty kick in the 69th minute and then scored the final goal of the match at 76:00. |
