A Limestone College student was scheduled to appear for a hearing Tuesday afternoon at the college to determine his future as a student in the wake of an Oct. 28 incident during which he admittedly punched a cafeteria worker.

Results from the hearing weren’t immediately available at press time, though a college spokesman said the student, identified in a police report as Michael Campbell Jr., 26, of Overbrook Road, would have the right to appeal any decisions.

A cell phone camera video, which allegedly shows Campbell knock out the cafeteria worker with a single punch to the side of his head, was uploaded to the Internet and appeared on the World Star Hip Hop web site.

Two separate incident reports were filed with the Gaffney Police Department in the wake of the incident.

The 34-year-old cafeteria worker told police that Campbell struck him once about the head and face at about 6 p.m. Oct. 28 at the college. Police said the cafeteria worker had a swollen right cheek.

Campbell filed a separate police report claiming he only acted in selfdefense. According to the report, Campbell claimed he was in line at the cafeteria when the worker came from behind the counter, stood close to him and started making threats.

While Campbell was seated at a table, he claimed the worker than came over with a container of knives, dumped them out on the table, and started pushing them towards him.

Police said in a report that Campbell stated he was in fear for his life and got up and struck the worker several times with his fist.
