Bethel Baptist celebrates Woman’s Day

At left is Malisha Smith, Ms. Bethel 2008, and at right is Jacqueline Bristol, first runner-up. The women of Bethel Baptist Church held their annual Woman's Day service Sunday, Aug 30. The theme was "Christian Women: Meeting The Challenges of a Modern World."

Juanita Dewberry, served as church school superintendent while Mamie Davidson was her assistant. Teachers were Carol McFadden, Natalie Cannon, Shandra Montgomery, Linda Jefferies, Cassandra Johnson, Kim Hollis, Lisa Dewberry, Dasheena Bell, Angela Tate, Tangela Poole, Naomi Stanley, Edith Knuckles, Ruth Tate, Corrie Jefferies, Mary Lucas, Sarah Smith, Cathy Neal and Jennifer Hemphill.

Devotional was led by the women’s praise team and Andrenna Montgomery.

Music was provided by the Women’s Choir under the direction of Terri Williams. Jewette Patterson, Mary Wilkins, Jerome Adams and Roy Lee Smith were the musicians.

During morning worship, devotion was led by the women's praise team. The call to worship was given by Malisha Smith. Others taking part in the morning service were Italia Rankin, Mary Douglas, Sadie Haney, Donitra Dawkins, Mary Lucas, Shirley Hemphill, Dedra Fowler, Phyllis Shaw, Earnestine Means, Shannon Redish, Rubye C. Sanders, Barbara Fernanders and Dr. J.W. Sanders Sr., pastor.

The Woman’s Day message was given by Wanda Howell, pastor of St. Paul A.M.E. Church, Lenoir, N.C.
