Taught at Ewing Middle School for 27 years

Paula Jean Barnhill Marett, 64, of 671 Edgewater Drive, went home to be with the Lord, while surrounded by her family and friends, on Monday, Nov. 2, 2009, at her residence.

Born in Gaffney, she was the daughter of the late Paul Barnhill and Jean Robbs Barnhill. She received her Bachelor's degree and Master's degree from Winthrop University. She taught school at Ewing Middle School for 27 years and was currently employed as a teacher with Cherokee County Adult Education.

Ms. Marett was a member of the Eastern Star, Gaffney Garden Club, National Education Association and the S.C. Education Association. She was a member of Draytonville Baptist Church, where she was a choir member.

She is survived by two sons, Chad Marett and wife, Rachel, of Gaffney and Cort Marett and wife, Kristi, of Belton; a daughter, Chan Crisp and husband, Todd, of Kings Mountain, N.C.; two brothers, Charles Barnhill and Howard Barnhill and wife, Janice, all of Gaffney; and four grandchildren, Dawn Marett, Lawson Marett, Oliver Marett and Olivia Marett.

The family will receive friends Friday, Nov. 6, from 6-8 p.m. at Blakely Funeral Home.

Services will be held Saturday, Nov. 7, at 11 a.m. at Draytonville Baptist Church with Dr. Keith Harrill and the Rev. Robert Ivey officiating. Interment will be in church cemetery.

The family will be at the residence, 671 Edgewater Drive.
